The Pine Ridge woman injured early yesterday morning after a shotgun blast shattered the windshield of the 2003 GMC Yukon Denali in which she was riding is listed in stable condition at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Hortensia Penalbert, 69, was transported yesterday by ambulance from Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center to the university’s teaching hospital for further treatment of her wounds. When Monday’s incident occurred, she and her husband Juan Penalbert, 67, were traveling home with a friend in their SUV.
CCSO detectives continue to actively investigate this mysterious case, and are still processing both the scene and the GMC in the hopes of finding clues that may help them identify the unknown shooter and pinpoint the chain of events.
